Course Profile

The Course provides the theoretical and practical basis necessary for the effective performance of inspections and for the implementation of the protection of structures. It is carried out in accordance with the Frosio Scheme, which follows the requirements of the ISO 17024 standard.

The course allows members who have attended at least 80% of the lessons to access the exam organized by the IspAC Association Group, accredited as a certifier by the Frosio Body.

Promoters

The Course is promoted by the Department of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering - DICCA of the University of Genoa.

The Department, accredited since 2009 by the Norwegian body Frosio as a training body for the preparation of "Inspectors for surface treatment", is responsible for organizing exclusively for the Italian territory the courses for the Qualification and Certification of Coating Inspectors Level I, II and III in accordance with the Frosio SCHEME, which follows the requirements of ISO 17024.

Professional profile

The course trains inspectors for testing paint cycles for corrosion protection, in accordance with the Frosio Scheme.

Possible career opportunities include shipbuilding and industrial construction, production, technical support and marketing of paint products and treatments of metal and cement surfaces, and finally the quality and safety of surface treatment processes in manufacturing and service companies.

Frosio courses offer the opportunity to expand and accredit the preparation and professionalism of participants in the protective coatings and anti-corrosion sector. Their standard is at a high specialist level both for the completeness of the theoretical-practical lessons and for the experience consolidated by the Frosio organization in over 20 years of activity, with more than 7000 level II and III Coating Inspectors, qualified and certified, who operate all over the world.

Requirements

The course is aimed at those who have a high school diploma with significant experience in shipbuilding and industry; those who do not have this qualification are invited to contact the Management Committee of the FROSIO Italia Course (frosioitalia@unige.it; 0103356030, 0103356033).

Two students enrolled in the Polytechnic School and the Degree Course in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Genoa may also participate free of charge. Students cannot register through the online procedure, but must submit an application, accompanied by a curriculum vitae in English, to the Management Committee at the email frosioitalia@unige.it.

Final title

At the end of the Course, a certificate of attendance will be issued. The certificate of attendance allows the enrolled students to take the Frosio exam for Surface Treatment Inspectors.

Attendance of the course is essential to take the exam managed by the Gruppo IspAC Associazione, accredited as a certifier by the FROSIO Body. To take the exam, it is necessary to attend 80% of the 72 hours of lessons. The Group offers extraordinary exam sessions announced on their website www.gruppoispac.org.

The organizational secretariat of the exam is managed by the Gruppo IspAC Associazione (GIA).
